I was incredibly excited to begin the three-day workshop of my two-act play The Pretendians at The Playwrights’ Center. The story follows Aislin, a transracial adoptee of Osage heritage, who moves with her husband to the fictional town of Proctor, Massachusetts. Both hope they’ll be able to lay down roots in this town, but when Aislin learns of her mentor’s suspicious death, she realizes that something sinister is lurking beneath this sleepy town — and the nightmares she’s been experiencing may be more than just dreams.
I feel so blessed to have worked with Rhianna Yazzie as my director, Sydni Alise as our stage manager, and our incredible cast of actors Rebekah Crisanta de Ybarra, Darek DeLille, Cathee Vick, Paul LaNave, Elizabeth Cates, and Maren Ward. With their contributions and guidance, I was able to dive deep into Aislin’s journey and bring her wants and fear to life. I cannot wait to see where this story goes from here!
Stay tuned for another workshop I have coming up next month…
